My interest in science is rooted in a fascination (andet ord?) of understanding the world - to understand how everything is build and how it develops. I have always found Mathematics interesting and in school I was introduced to other parts of the science world. In my high school years, I studied a wide range of science subjects and decided to do my A-levels in Mathematics, Physics and Health & Lifestyle. Furthermore, I used to attend public lectures at the University of Aarhus, Denmark. These lectures were treated dealt with everything from Autobiographies of scientists, Cryptology to the latest news about Partial Physics.
Aside from Science, I love to play football and badminton, and spend a lot of time in the water, either the pool or in the ocean. I simply love water and decided to complete a program in skin diving. In this program I tried SCUBA diving and from that moment I knew I would spend some time working in a dive centre (sidste del af sætningen lyder lidt forkert grammatisk set).
Later, I started taking my PADI courses, the first one in 2005 and in the fall of 2008 I went to Zanzibar, Tanzania, where I took the Dive master courses. From September to December, I was part of the dive team in One Ocean, the Zanzibar dive centre. I was diving every day and started to learn more and more about the life of the coral reefs.
In December, I travelled on to Thailand where I worked as a snorkelling guide for Scandinavian Divers. Four to Five times a week I was on Similan Island or Surin Island where I and the local guide had the responsibility for 30 snorkelers from TUI Nordic and T. Cook. When possible, I was leading dive groups.
Now I work in Greece. Where I work as a Dive Master: I lead dives, conduct Discover Scuba Diving and guide snorkelling tour.
Through these jobs I got to know a new world, and it has become obvious to me that there is a need for better sustainability programs for the coral reefs and fishing. It is sad to see how the underwater world is neglected by anything form overfishing, to many divers and pollution (meget central sætning, rigtig god pointe, men grammatisk forkert - skal omformuleres). I would like to give my contribution to a better understanding and sustainability of the underwater world for future generations. I find your program in Marine Science and Biology a perfect education for me to learn more about the eco system of the underwater world, and I would love to study in Australia to study. After one year of travelling, I still would like to see more of the world and learn about new cultures. Australia is the perfect place for me, since it is an English speaking country with a fascinating culture and with rich flora and fauna.
From 2002 until 2008, I had a part-time job in Foetex, one of the biggest Supermarket chains in Denmark. Here, I learned what it means to give the best service and always be there for the costumers. I have had different positions including weekend manager and customer service staff at the information desk. The job also gave me knowledge of life outside the classroom and I was working with people from a wide spectrum of ages and educational level. It has made me more self-confident and independent, I can use a lot of the experience from the work in my future education. I learn how to organised a bigger group of different people and task, it also give me the skill of maintain the overview in busy situation. Now I feel ready to continue with my education.
